Augmented Reality Applications
Changing the Way We See the World
Mobile Augmented Reality continues to gain momentum and mindshare, which is amazing for a technology that few people have actually had the opportunity to experience yet for themselves. That’s about to change. Magma specialises in producing vision-based AR, which means that it uses the camera to recognise an arbitrary image and superimpose 3D graphic content into the live video so it appears to co-exist in your physical environment. Magma is using AR to build games, extend print and media campaigns with interactive 3D content, and create educational applications that bridge the digital and real worlds.
This is the official iPhone app of the amazing exhibition “Dinosaurs - Live!” at Science Centre Singapore, 21 Oct 2011 – 26 Feb 2012.
With the Dinosaurs Live! app for iPhone you can witness various amazing dinosaurs come to life via Augmented Reality (AR) technology, which superimposes animated 3D objects into real space. The app includes two “free” dinosaurs to kick off your collection and four more AR dinosaurs that are launched via stickers obtainable at the Dinosaurs - Live! exhibition. Check out the Facebook page for more information.

In 2011, the Asian Civilisations Museum of Singapore approached Magma Studios to produce a ground-breaking iPhone app - an interactive tour of their Terracotta Warriors exhibition, which will run from June 24th to October 16th 2011. The result is a world first - a tour featuring a unique mixture of augmented reality experiences and mini-games which are strung together with an interactive comic which tells the story of Li Si, Prime Minister of the First Emperor of China.
Beyond the museum galleries, iPhone users are able to use their iPhone camera to view life-size 3D terracotta warriors at Dhoby Ghaut MRT train station where markers are installed. They can take a photograph with these warriors and even upload them on their Facebook pages immediately. In the same way, users can also activate an interactive warrior that marches across marketing materials such as publicity flyers and newspaper advertisements
