Magma Studios specialises in 3D browser-based MMO game worlds with real-time animation and visual effects as well as dynamic, easily configurable quest, item and combat systems. We are one of the few studios in the world to have developed a fully-featured MMOG with Unity3D (World of Temasek) which we successfully launched in March 2011. We have also conceptualised MMOGs and Virtual Worlds for major media brands and broadcasters.

World of Temasek Launched in March 2011 www.worldoftemasek.com World of Temasek is a non-fiction massive multiplayer game world that recreates life in the 14th century kingdom of Temasek, which was located on the island which today is the nation of Singapore. Unique features include an active combat system, an  interface with google maps to give historical context and a History Exploration Window that acts an interface to historical archive material.
LINGO Online In Development (Prototype Complete) Lingo online is an MMO gaming world that teaches children how to speak English fluently. Developed in partnership with the Carnegie Speech Company in Pittsburg, USA, LINGO marries the latest in MMO game design with the proven online speech analysis methodologies developed through 20 years of research at Carnegie Mellon University. The result is a powerfully effective and highly entertaining way to get youth to invest their time and energy into attaining spoken English fluency.
Camelot Chronicles Online (Prototype Complete) Set to redefine the quality and depth of browser-based 3D MMOGs, Camelot Chronicles Online takes one of the most universally-loved stories of the western world as a backstory and infuses it with a squad-based active combat system and a dynamic and unique quest progression.
Bao Bao Tang In Development Developed in partnership with Investor Central, Bao Bao Tang is an Online Game World that teaches children & families about finance through entertaining and educational game play. It is an online community for 6-12 year-olds, where they can have fun, play games and make friends as they absorb lessons about saving money, earning interest and managing debt. Children online in the Bao Bao Tang world will think they are playing a fantastic game, but hidden in the fun is a wealth of financial literacy education that will stand them in good stead in the future.

MMOG and Virtual World Game Design Consultancy Projects

MTV YOUtopia Project Concept and Game Design Produced for 10TACLE STUDIOS (under license from MTV Germany and MTV Asia), the YOUtopia Project was a case study in pop-culture infused virtual world design. Magma provided the in-depth research and wrote the game design document.
Tweenz Concept and Game Design Produced for Netherlands Public Broadcasting, Tweenz is a concept that aims to take traditional combined broadcast media content and extend it into an online game world. Born out of a need to address the online play and socialisation habits of the at-risk "tweens" age demographic, Magma provided the game design, art direction and a promo video to pitch the project to the EBU (European Broadcasting Union).
Planet GEO Concept and Game Design Produced for National Geographic Channel (NGC Network Asia, LLC), Planet GEO is an educational virtual world project aimed at the youth demographic. Magma conceptualised and designed an online game world with a virtual exploration theme that we pitched to the audience at annual explorer's meeting at the National Geographic Society in Washington, DC.
